LUMS & MSF Lighting the Path of Opportunity for the Children of Neelum Valley, Kashmir

In the breathtaking yet challenging mountain landscapes of Neelum Valley, Kashmir, education has long remained a distant dream for thousands of children. Harsh terrain, financial barriers, limited access, and a severe shortage of educational institutions have kept many boys and girls out of school.

Today, that hope shines even brighter as LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) joins hands with MSF to open doors of opportunity for the youth of Neelum Valley.

A Landmark Initiative in a Hard to Reach Region:

LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) conducted a comprehensive scholarship orientation session at MSF Schools, engaging more than 300 students across the valley. This was not just an information session, it was a bridge connecting remote children to one of Pakistan’s most prestigious universities.

Students from far-flung mountain villages attended with excitement and curiosity, eager to understand:

• How they can apply for LUMS NOP
• Eligibility requirements
• Scholarship benefits including full financial support, hostel facilities & living expenses
• Degree programs offered at LUMS
• How students from remote valleys can compete with confidence

For many of these children, this was the first time they heard about opportunities beyond their valley opportunities that could reshape their future.

Empowering Students With Guidance & Direction:

The LUMS NOP team guided students through every step of the process application timelines, merit criteria, required documents, and preparation strategies for the admission test.
They also highlighted an inspiring fact:

Every year, thousands of talented Pakistani students including those from AJK and Gilgit Baltistan receive full scholarships at LUMS through NOP.

It whispered to each child:

“You belong in universities. You deserve opportunities. Your dreams matter.”

This message resonated deeply with MSF students who have long struggled with limited resources, no access to quality institutions, and the financial constraints of higher education.
